Roa Exhibition (Paris)

A brilliant Roa exhibition will be taking place until Sunday at the Itinerrance gallery in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

(store of a shop near gare de l’est)

I had already seen some impressive pieces by this Belgian artist in the streets and knew he was talented, but I could not picture how his work would be adapted to a gallery. Hence I went to see this exhibition, ans was not disappointed.

The pieces were made suitable for the gallery by using recycled supports with articulated panels; depending on the position you put them in, you can see the insides of the animals. It reminded me of the picture of the rabbit I made in London recently.

The gallery walls are of course showing Roa’s totem animals: rabbits, crows and small insects. Some smaller pieces are pencil-drawn, and there is also a series of pictures showing the extent of the artist’s work outside.

Anyway, great exhibition, and brilliant welcome!

One of my favourite artists, the Belgian Roa, will have an exhibition in Paris for the first time from the 4th to the 28th of February.

If you don’t know Roa yet, have a look at the pics in the last article on Londres, le lapin c’est lui.

London Streets

I had not been in London for a while, and as far as street art is concerned, things moved quite a lot.

I give you as proof my sneaky morning photo session, which allowed me to find:

- beautiful works by Roa (especially the rabbit),
- three new Banksy which had unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view- been defaced by Robbo (complete story here:Banksy Vs Robbo),
- two works by Vhils made for the Grifters exhibition, which is organized by Steve Lazarides,
- a beautiful joint work by C215 and the Canadian artist Indigo in the yard of the Cargo,
- a legal mural by Oliver Winconek
- and, last but not least, a huge Space Invader in Bricklane market, also made for the Grifters exhibition.

Enjoy the pictures:

Williamsburg Brooklyn

By admin, 27 March 2009 4:12 PM

Williamsburg is a part of Brooklyn located on the bank of the East River. Half of this area is really hip, with a lot of small shops selling trendy clothes, music chops, bakeries, and also, as a decoration for these shops, murals. The other half is made of warehouses and small residential buildings.

There are a lot of works by famous and less famous street artists, the most famous ones being Space Invader, Swoon, Faile, FKDL, Mike Marcus, Os Gemeos, C215, Jef Aerosol, and Know Hope.

I unfortunately missed Nick Walker’s girafe, which is located in Roebling Street, as well as the huge mural of the East Village – 6th St, Cooper Square.
